OpenAI's GPT-5.5-Cyber AI for Japanese Firms

OpenAI plans to provide its latest cybersecurity AI model to some Japanese companies. This new model offers enhanced cybersecurity capabilities. Jason Kwon, OpenAI's chief strategy officer, shared this plan. The model, called GPT-5.5-Cyber, specializes in cyberdefense. It has performance comparable to Anthropic's Claude Mythos model. GPT-5.5-Cyber has already been given to government agencies and companies in the United States. OpenAI aims to broaden access to Japan and other allies. The British government's AI Security Institute also found GPT-5.5's performance comparable to Mythos. Both models successfully cleared simulated cyberattack trials. This development could expand defensive cybersecurity capabilities for Japanese firms.
