Ripple AI Payments on XRP Ledger: Game Changer for XRP?

Ripple is bringing agentic AI payments to the XRP blockchain, allowing AI agents to manage and spend money using XRP. Ripple shipped the XRP Ledger AI Starter Kit on June 10th. This kit creates infrastructure for autonomous software agents to pay for services and fees with XRP and Ripple's dollar-backed stablecoin. They will use x402, an open standard for machine-to-machine payments. What's interesting is that the XRP Ledger is one of several chains supported by the x402 protocol, which launched in May 2025. By March 2026, this protocol handled about 35 million transactions on Solana, mainly using stablecoins. Ripple aims to attract financial institutions with fast transaction finality, low fees, and compliance tools. However, even if this plan brings more activity to the network, XRP holders might not see a benefit. This is because every XRP transaction burns a tiny fee that is not paid to anyone; it's destroyed. Since 2012, about 14.3 million XRP have been burned. The bottom line is that while this development could increase network activity, its impact on XRP holders is uncertain.
