SKT AI Security Team: Building Cyber Defense Model

SK Telecom is forming an alliance to create an AI model for cyber defense. This team includes AI developers, cybersecurity companies, and universities. They have applied for a government project to develop an AI foundation model for cybersecurity. The group includes Upstage, nine security companies, Korea University, Soongsil University, and KISIA. The plan is to develop a security-focused model using SKT’s A.X K family and Upstage’s Solar Open models. This will be combined with AI agents to automate tasks like threat detection and response. The system will be trained and tested with real-world security data. Nine security companies will provide expertise across various security areas. Universities will evaluate the model's performance and safety, and KISIA will help share the results. This effort addresses the growing workload faced by security operations centers, some handling up to 10,000 threat alerts daily. This initiative aims to build a practical security AI ecosystem for Korea.
