SpaceXAI & Cursor Launch AI Model: Opus 4.8, GPT 5.5 Rival

SpaceXAI and Cursor plan to launch their first jointly developed AI model as soon as Wednesday. This news comes from Reuters and The Information, citing an internal memo and staff communications. The new model is reportedly being compared internally to Opus 4.8 and GPT 5.5. An earlier launch was delayed to improve efficiency. Gizmodo also reproduces a post from Elon Musk about Grok 4.5 being in private beta at SpaceX and Tesla. This Grok 4.5 is described as based on a 1.5T V9 foundation and uses Cursor data in supplemental training. Reuters notes that Cursor declined to comment, and SpaceXAI did not respond to requests.
