SpaceXAI to Launch New Frontier AI Model This Week

SpaceXAI is reportedly launching a new frontier AI model as early as Wednesday. This model is the first built jointly with the AI startup Cursor, which SpaceX is acquiring for $60 billion. A version of the Grok AI model from May already incorporated data from Cursor. Last month, Elon Musk stated that Grok 4.5, an unreleased model, was being beta tested at SpaceX and Tesla. He said its performance was comparable to an unspecified version of Claude Opus. What's interesting is that the new model is being compared internally to Claude Opus 4.8 and OpenAI's GPT 5.5. Cursor's founder previously announced a model designed to compete with frontier models from other major AI companies. This could signal a significant development in the AI landscape.
