Sparky: Local AI Assistant in a Suitcase Unveiled

A new local AI assistant named Sparky has been built into a suitcase. This AI is designed to be always present and share its opinions. Sparky runs on an NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX Super and uses Google's Gemma 4 E4B language model offline. It operates without internet access or external servers. The system includes an 11.6-inch display for Sparky's animated face, which tracks movement and synchronizes with speech. Audio input uses a USB microphone and local speech recognition. Sparky also has over 30 sensors that measure things like temperature, humidity, and light levels. These readings are fed into the model to give Sparky context, allowing it to comment on its surroundings. Power comes from a 50,000mAh battery pack, letting it run for hours untethered. What's interesting is this project shows how a fully local, opinionated AI can be built and interact with its environment.
