A new language model from Safe Superintelligence, or SSI, is expected to launch by early next week. This comes from Gavin Baker, founder of Atreides Fund, an investor in SSI. SSI was founded by Ilya Sutskever, formerly OpenAI's chief scientist. He left OpenAI over ideological differences with Sam Altman, specifically regarding safety and rapid development. Sutskever's new company has raised $7 billion, with Nvidia investing about $5 billion. SSI aims to create a language model focused on safety, reliability, and humanity. The company has hired over 50 employees and has offices in Palo Alto and Tel Aviv. One researcher claims to have accessed the model, noting its "unlimited contact" and extensive knowledge.
