SUI Seal MPC Prototype: Secure AI Payments on Testnet

Sui has launched a new Seal MPC prototype on its testnet, aiming to enable secure payments by AI agents. This system prevents AI agents from having full control over funds. Here's the thing: The prototype, built by Mysten Labs, uses multi-party computation. This means cryptographic authority is split, so no single entity, including the AI agent, can unilaterally move funds. AI agents can propose transactions, but these are governed by on-chain access policies written in Move smart contracts. Users can define spending rules in natural language, like daily caps or specific counterparties, and smart contracts automatically enforce them. The decentralized Seal Key Server went live on the testnet around March 12, 2026. This system leverages Move smart contracts, a language designed for safe digital asset handling. Mysten Labs sees applications in encrypted messaging and broader agentic commerce. The mainnet launch for Seal MPC is anticipated around June 18, 2026.
