Synopsys, AMD, Microsoft: Autonomous EDA with AI

Synopsys, AMD, and Microsoft are expanding their collaboration to integrate agentic AI into autonomous engineering workflows. This initiative aims to streamline complex development tasks and shorten the path from concept to finished chip. What's interesting is that these new capabilities are available for evaluation through Microsoft Discovery. The companies are combining Synopsys' design automation expertise with AMD's computing technology and Microsoft's cloud and AI platforms. This supports AI-driven chip design workflows using large-scale reasoning and cloud-scale computing. The release includes two new electronic design automation workflows. Initial testing of the autonomous debug closure workflow showed up to a 40 percent reduction in debug cycle time. These workflows orchestrate multiple AI agents to perform specialized design tasks. AMD is already using this technology in its semiconductor design. Microsoft provides the cloud infrastructure for evaluation and deployment. This collaboration is designed to help engineering teams reduce manual effort and accelerate time to silicon. This matters because it could lead to faster development of next-generation AI infrastructure.
