UAE AI: Federal Framework for Agentic AI in Ministries

The UAE Cabinet has approved a federal framework to deploy agentic AI across its ministries. This plan aims for 50% deployment of this advanced AI in services, operations, and workforce development. What's interesting is that the UAE is among the first governments globally to pursue such extensive use of independent AI systems. These systems can handle multi-step tasks and make decisions with limited human intervention. The Prime Minister of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, stated their ambition is to be the world's leading government in adopting Agentic AI. Every federal ministry will have a specialized team, led by a minister, to oversee deployment and measure outcomes. The initial phase will focus on citizen, resident, and business services, along with other public-facing government operations. To support this, the UAE is launching its largest federal AI workforce training initiative, aiming to train 80,000 employees, from ministers to entry-level staff. This matters because it shows a national commitment to integrating advanced AI into daily government functions on a large scale.
