US Comms Giants Launch C2 ISAC for Cyber Resilience

Eight of the largest US telecom and infrastructure providers are launching a new cybersecurity initiative. AT&T, Charter, Comcast, Cox, Lumen Technologies, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Zayo have created the Communications Cybersecurity Information Sharing and Analysis Center, or C2 ISAC. This new nonprofit aims to strengthen cyber resilience across the communications sector. It signals a shift towards faster, more structured intelligence sharing among major operators. Communications providers are central to national infrastructure, connecting enterprises, governments, and consumers. The initiative will help these companies maintain visibility across the evolving threat landscape and strengthen defenses. C2 ISAC will focus specifically on the communications industry. It builds on decades of cooperation through the National Coordinating Center for Communications, established in 1984. Members will share threat intelligence, operational insights, and defensive strategies. This will improve the speed and effectiveness of incident response. Valerie Moon has been appointed executive director, bringing experience from CISA and the FBI. The initial board will consist of chief information security officers from the eight founding companies. This collaboration matters because rapid information exchange is crucial for defending critical communications infrastructure.
