India's AI Mission has launched Varya, a new video model designed to make advanced video AI more affordable and accessible. This model marks a significant step in India's AI development, showcasing the government's commitment to building indigenous AI capabilities. Varya was developed by Avtaar, an AI transformation company, with support from the IndiaAI Mission. What's interesting is its efficiency: Varya uses a distillation technique that reduces video generation from 50 steps to just 4. This makes it up to 10 times more cost-efficient than many other global video models, while still maintaining similar output quality.
