VCF 9.1: AI Security & Kubernetes Drive Upgrades

VMware Cloud Foundation, or VCF, version 9.1 is gaining appeal due to new AI security features and Kubernetes updates. This comes as prior VCF versions approach their end-of-support deadline in October 2027. What's interesting is that VCF 9.1, rolled out in May, adds five new layers of security controls for both AI and traditional workloads. These include threat detection, prevention, live patching for VCF hosts, and data encryption. Broadcom also announced updates, including multi-tenant model sharing with privacy controls and an AI gateway supporting over 150 third-party models. A new secure AI agent framework is also embedded in VCF, offering sandbox isolation by default. An IT consultant noted that many clients are expected to upgrade directly to 9.1, partly for these new security features, especially for private AI model hosting. One bank's VMware product owner highlighted that VCF 9.1's improved platform security, like live patching, will allow for more agile remediation of their systems. The bottom line: These security enhancements are encouraging businesses to upgrade their VCF environments ahead of the support deadline.
