Vercel CEO: AI Agents Key for Coding & Automation

Vercel, which handles 6 million daily deployments, sees coding agents and internal automation as key uses for AI. Its CEO, Guillermo Rauch, notes that the industry is moving from AI agent prototyping to solving production challenges. Roughly half of Vercel's daily deployments are triggered by coding agents, and over one trillion tokens pass through its AI gateway each day. Vercel offers the Eve framework, allowing companies to define agent instructions in natural language. Its Sandbox tool helps restrict data access for agents, addressing concerns about sensitive company data. For example, a sales representative at Vercel used an agent to identify fast-growing accounts. This task was previously limited by data access. Companies are also adopting multi-model strategies, using various AI models like Gemini and DeepSeek alongside others, to optimize for cost and performance. This trend highlights the increasing overlap between infrastructure platforms and AI labs.
