Viber Integrates ChatGPT: AI Tools Now in Messaging App

Rakuten Viber is integrating new ChatGPT-powered tools directly into its messaging app. These features are now available for Viber users in the Philippines on iOS and Android. Desktop access is coming soon. One practical tool is Translate Message, which instantly translates chats with a tap. Users can also access ChatGPT through a dedicated contact and tab within Viber to ask questions or brainstorm ideas without needing a separate app. No ChatGPT account is required to start, but logging in offers higher usage limits. Users can tag @ChatGPT in chats for suggestions visible to everyone. Image Remix, powered by ChatGPT Images, allows photo editing and style application using built-in templates. This feature requires connecting a free ChatGPT account. Other tools include Link Summary, which highlights key points from shared articles, and Chat Summary, providing private recaps of conversations. Polish Messages helps refine message tone and clarity. Viber states that privacy remains a priority. End-to-end encryption protects core messaging, and only content users choose to process through AI tools is shared with OpenAI. Users must give explicit consent to OpenAI’s terms before their first use. This means Viber is enhancing communication and productivity directly within the app.
