VS Code 1.126: Copilot Cost Tracking & Parallel Chats

Visual Studio Code version 1.126 now includes reported AI cost tracking, parallel Copilot chats, and changes to Restricted Mode. This update allows developers to see the accumulated cost of AI chat sessions. GitHub AI Credits now measure chargeable Copilot usage. One credit equals 0.01 US dollars, with cost depending on the model chosen and token volume. A full-session total helps developers monitor expenses for tasks involving prompts, code edits, reviews, tests, and documentation. The new version also supports multiple Copilot chats within a single agent session. This means developers can run several conversations simultaneously, such as implementing a change while reviewing work or drafting tests, all within the same working context. Additionally, new untrusted folders will now open in Restricted Mode by default. Users can then decide whether to trust these folders. The bottom line is these changes offer developers more control over AI-assisted work, both in terms of cost and workflow efficiency.
