WeChat AI Agent: New Developer Guidelines & Integrations

The WeChat Open Platform has released developer guidelines for its new AI agent, offering an intelligent interactive experience for users. Mini-programs can now integrate with the WeChat AI ecosystem, giving them the chance to be recommended and invoked by WeChat AI. If a mini-program doesn't integrate, it won't be callable by the AI. Developers have two integration choices: an automatic mode that accesses source code during review, or a development mode for custom personalization. Meituan was the first to officially integrate, allowing users to access services like food delivery through WeChat AI. Travel platforms like Ctrip and Tongcheng have also announced their integration. Separately, Tencent customer service confirmed WeChat is working with smartphone makers like Huawei and Xiaomi to launch A2A assistant capabilities. This means users can initiate WeChat calls or send messages using their phone's AI assistant. What's interesting is that this AI agent could significantly change how users interact with services within WeChat.
