Wuhan's $147M AI Agent City Plan: China's Tech Future

Wuhan is preparing to invest over 1 billion yuan, or about 147 million US dollars, in the next three years. The goal is to build an AI agent city in China's Optics Valley area. Optics Valley, known for fiber optic cable manufacturing, aims to become a major hub for AI agent development. AI agents are artificial intelligence systems capable of more independent tasks. By 2029, the target is ambitious: to nurture 100 influential AI agent companies, launch 1,000 AI agent products, and attract 10,000 developers. To support this, Wuhan will expand its computing infrastructure. The intelligent computing capacity in Optics Valley is set to double to 10,000 PetaFlops this year. Companies renting AI computing resources can receive subsidies of up to 50 percent. The best pilot projects may also get grants up to 3 million yuan. Optics Valley will provide real test spaces, including for government, tourism, and smart city applications. This initiative shows a significant push towards advancing AI technology.
