WWDC: Siri Overhaul with Gemini Foundation & AI Moment

Morgan analyst Samik Chatterjee notes this overhaul is the main highlight. Apple's agenda even mentions "AI advancements," signaling confidence in delivering upgrades. The revamped Siri will reportedly be a standalone app, competing with chatbots like ChatGPT and Gemini, and supporting multi-turn conversations. What's interesting is that Dynamic Island may always feature a "Search or Ask" entry point for instant Siri activation. More importantly, Siri could replace Spotlight as the global search entry point for iPhone, meaning all system-level searches would go through Siri. The underlying AI architecture is also changing. The new framework might allow users to choose which model handles their queries, much like selecting a default search engine. Gemini could be upgraded to a foundational role in this system.
