Young Americans Distrust AI Billionaires: Poll Reveals Skepticism

A new poll reveals that young Americans largely distrust billionaire leaders in the artificial intelligence industry. The survey of over 1,000 Americans aged 18 to 34 found that 45% expect AI to negatively affect their careers. Only 10% believe AI will help them. Distrust is widespread among these young adults. Palantir CEO Alex Karp had the highest distrust level at 81%, followed by Peter Thiel at 79%. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei was at 76%, and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai at 74%. Around 70% distrust Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. Even Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, viewed most favorably, is still distrusted by 65%. This skepticism extends to the infrastructure powering AI, with about 60% wanting to slow data center construction. This reflects broader unease about the technology and the power of major tech companies. This information highlights a significant concern among a key demographic regarding the future of AI.
