Z AI's GLM-5.2: New AI Model Challenges GPT-5.5

A Chinese AI company, Z AI, has released its new flagship model, GLM-5.2. This model features a 1 million token context window and 753 billion parameters. It also comes with an MIT open-source license. What's interesting is that GLM-5.2 reportedly outperforms a competing model, OpenAI's GPT-5.5, on several coding benchmarks. Plus, it costs about one-sixth of the price. The model launched just after new export controls affected access to another AI model, Claude Fable 5. Z AI, originally known as Zhipu AI, spun out of Tsinghua University in 2019. It became the world's first publicly listed large language model company. This new development could significantly impact the global AI landscape.
