Zscaler to Acquire Symmetry Systems: Zero Trust for AI Agents

Zscaler plans to acquire Symmetry Systems to enhance zero trust security for AI agents. Symmetry Systems specializes in identity mapping and data access for AI security. Their technology creates an "access graph" showing how human and non-human identities, applications, and data connect across an enterprise. This access graph helps security teams govern how AI agents communicate with applications and data. The system ingests access logs from various sources, including SaaS, public cloud, and AI systems, and uses AI to correlate them. This reveals which identities are accessing what data and how. Combined with Zscaler's Zero Trust Exchange platform, this provides the visibility needed to build and enforce policies for AI agent communication. The current model for governing human access doesn't scale to the millions of autonomous AI agents operating independently. Symmetry Systems will show which identities are communicating with applications and data, and Zscaler will use this to establish policy. This new approach aims to provide actionable control for customers to safely use AI.
