AegisAI, a startup founded by former Google security executives, has raised $36 million to combat AI-driven spear phishing. This funding brings their total capital to $49 million. Hackers are increasingly using AI to create highly convincing email attacks. These AI tools can quickly gather personal information to craft authentic-looking messages. Existing rule-based security systems are often too slow to catch these AI-generated threats. AegisAI developed AI agents that analyze messages like a human would, spotting subtle anomalies. The company reports that its technology has been adopted by dozens of customers, including Mash, LangChain, and Google-owned Lokker. One co-founder noted that AI-powered attacks are now nearly twice as effective as before, bypassing over half of existing controls. This new funding will help AegisAI further develop its AI-driven defense against these advanced threats.
