AI Legal Secretary: Gov't Launches Service for Officials

The government is launching an "AI legal secretary" service for public officials. This service will help them review legal grounds for policy planning and implementation. It starts operating on a trial basis this week, equipped with about 240,000 cases of judicial precedents, laws, and regulations. The AI can answer various legal questions from officials. The Ministry of Government Legislation developed the service with the Interior Ministry and the Science Ministry. It uses a homegrown AI foundation model. Officials say it's an interim reference, not a final legal judgment. Government Legislation Minister Cho Won-cheol states that interpreting and implementing law is challenging, requiring high expertise. This AI secretary service is expected to significantly improve the work efficiency of public officials. This could streamline government processes and decision-making.
