AI Network Security: Businesses Fear Expanding Attack Surface

Businesses modernizing their networks for AI are deeply concerned about cybersecurity. A recent Cisco report reveals that security complexity is the most significant challenge linked to AI-driven network demand. Here's the thing: these security concerns are directly limiting the growth of AI adoption. Organizations are hesitant to expand AI use if it creates hacking risks. What's interesting is that 72% of IT leaders cited increased security risks as a reason to modernize their networks for AI. More than three-quarters of respondents expect AI security risks to rise as companies expand their use of the technology. A similar number say AI has already expanded their attack surface in the last year. Another worrisome finding: 71% of IT leaders expect AI threat evolution to outpace current security controls. Nearly 70% of respondents also reported increasing blind spots on their networks, making it harder to monitor suspicious activity. The bottom line: organizations are struggling to balance the benefits of AI with its significant security challenges, which could impact future innovation.
