Amalgam Rx has won the 2026 “Overall Large Language Model of the Year” award from AI Breakthrough. This recognition is for their proprietary foundation model called Chiron. Chiron analyzes patient records to predict future medical events across various conditions. What's interesting is that Chiron is designed to look at a patient's entire clinical history, unlike AI models focused on single diseases. It considers diagnoses, medications, and demographics to identify risks. Amalgam states the model nearly halved unnecessary diagnostic follow-up testing for sleep apnea patients while maintaining identification rates. This doubled diagnostic efficiency. AI Breakthrough received over 5,000 nominations from more than 20 countries for its 2026 awards. The platform aims to give providers a comprehensive view of patient risk, allowing for earlier intervention. This matters because it could lead to more efficient and proactive healthcare.
