Anthropic Valuation Nears $1 Trillion, Tops OpenAI

Anthropic, the company behind the chatbot Claude, now boasts a valuation approaching one trillion dollars. This makes it one of the world's most expensive AI startups. The company's valuation is now 965 billion dollars after raising 65 billion in private funding. This surpasses OpenAI's last reported value of 730 billion dollars. Anthropic was founded in 2021 by former OpenAI executives. In just five years, it has become a major challenger in the global AI market. Anthropic's annual revenue is reportedly 47 billion US dollars, coming from selling its Claude technology. This latest funding round was led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer Investment Group, Greenoaks Capital, and Sequoia Capital. Anthropic also launched a new model called Claude Opus 4.8. However, this surge in valuation for AI companies like Anthropic, OpenAI, and SpaceX raises questions. These companies reportedly spend more than their revenue, fueling concerns about an "AI bubble." This means high valuations may not align with actual business profits or long-term strength.
