Anthropic's $65B Funding: AI Valuation Exceeds OpenAI

Anthropic has raised $65 billion in its latest funding round, giving it a valuation of $965 billion. This makes it the most valuable AI startup, surpassing OpenAI's March valuation of $852 billion. The company's success is largely due to its enterprise offerings, especially its Claude Code software. Anthropic announced its annual revenue run rate now stands at $47 billion, up from $9 billion last year. Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital led this funding round, which also included previous commitments from hyperscalers like Amazon. Anthropic also debuted Claude Opus 4.8, its newest AI model, which it claims outperforms OpenAI’s GPT-5.5 and Google’s Gemini 3.1 Pro in several AI benchmarks. This development highlights the intense competition and rapid advancements in the artificial intelligence sector.
