ByteDance's 10 Trillion Parameter AI Model in Development

ByteDance is reportedly developing an artificial intelligence model with 10 trillion parameters. This would make it more than three times larger than Moonshot AI's Kimi K3, which has 2.8 trillion parameters. The new ByteDance model is said to be close in size to Anthropic's Mythos 5 system, estimated at around 8 trillion parameters. Parameters are numerical settings an AI model learns from data to identify patterns and perform tasks. They indicate scale but not necessarily capability. The development of this AI model is still in its early stages, currently undergoing a pre-training process that typically lasts three to six months. It will then be fine-tuned for release. This effort highlights how Chinese tech companies are accelerating their AI development to compete globally.
