Check Point: Agentic AI Outpaces CISO Defenses

Agentic AI is now operating cyberattacks faster than security teams can defend against them. This is a key finding from Check Point research. Here's the thing: Enterprise adoption of AI is moving quicker than governance controls. This means CISOs are struggling to stop attacks. What's worse, AI itself is now operating these attacks, not just executing commands. Adam Ely, general manager of AI Security at Check Point, explains that AI agents act and complete tasks faster than humans. By the time damage is detected, it's often too late. Check Point documented intrusions where AI ran exploitation workflows autonomously. It generated thousands of commands with minimal human direction. In one instance, a single operator used two commercial AI tools, Claude Code and GPT-4.1, to generate over 5,300 AI-executed commands across 34 attack sessions against nine Mexican government agencies. The bottom line: AI can now turn a new vulnerability into a working exploit within hours. This rapid pace means security teams face an unprecedented challenge in keeping up.
