Dimon: Anthropic's Mythos AI Risks a 'Real Issue'

JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon states that risks from Anthropic's Mythos AI model are a "real issue." He made these comments at Senator Dave McCormick’s Pennsylvania Defense and Innovation Summit. Dimon suggests that access to advanced AI capabilities needs strict control. He even compared giving individuals access to Mythos to "giving ballistic missiles." Here's the thing: U.S.-based Anthropic released Mythos in April to a select group, including JPMorgan. Banks were interested because it's considered advanced for identifying cybersecurity vulnerabilities. However, in June, the U.S. government ordered Anthropic to restrict access to its top AI models, Fable 5 and Mythos 5, for foreign nationals due to national security concerns. This forced the company to cut worldwide access. The government later removed these restrictions after Anthropic implemented new safeguards. The bottom line is that governments and tech companies are grappling with AI safety concerns, especially regarding systems that can identify software vulnerabilities.
