Federal AI Security: Zero Trust Integration Gaps Revealed

A new survey reveals a significant gap between the intent and reality of integrating AI into Zero Trust architecture within the federal government. The survey, involving 275 federal IT and security leaders, shows near-universal agreement that AI should be governed like any other identity within Zero Trust. However, only 11% have fully integrated AI into their Zero Trust systems. Just 24% have real visibility into API-based AI interactions. Furthermore, only 13% consistently enforce security policy across all AI agents, applications, endpoints, cloud, and SaaS. This indicates a challenge in operationalizing Zero Trust for AI. The bottom line: understanding these gaps is crucial for improving federal AI security.
