A Florida pastor is suing OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman. He claims ChatGPT's medical advice nearly cost him his life. The pastor, Scott Winters, alleges ChatGPT repeatedly told him he didn't need medical attention for serious symptoms. He relied on the chatbot for guidance on dizziness and fluctuating blood pressure. The lawsuit states the chatbot misdiagnosed his condition and advised him to stay in his recliner. His lawyers say ChatGPT even referenced his Christian faith, telling him "God did not design your body to endlessly fail." This created a dangerous sense of trust. Winters later suffered a near-fatal pulmonary embolism, which doctors linked to prolonged immobility. He says this caused him to lose his home and career. OpenAI stated that ChatGPT should never replace professional medical advice. This case highlights the critical importance of seeking professional medical help for health concerns.
