Google AI: Gemini 3.7 Flash Released, Flagship Delayed

Google has unveiled a new lightweight AI model called Gemini 3.7 Flash, specialized in coding and agent tasks. This new model was introduced to corporate and paid individual customers. Here's the thing: Google's top-tier model release has been delayed again. This delay means Google's AI competitiveness is now seen as lagging behind even latecomer xAI. What's interesting is that Gemini 3.7 Flash shows significantly improved coding and bug-fixing capabilities. Its performance benchmarks are similar to or even higher than mid-tier models from Anthropic and OpenAI. Plus, its API usage price is two to three times cheaper. The model also demonstrates unmatched speed in response generation, processing 340 tokens per second. However, as a lightweight model, it ranks lower overall compared to all AI models. It scored 56 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, placing it ninth. The bottom line: Google has yet to release its top-tier model, which was originally due in June, leading to concerns about its leadership in the AI market.
