Grok 4.6: Musk's AI to Rival China's Kimi K3

Elon Musk announced that xAI’s new AI model, Grok 4.6, is expected to arrive within weeks. This model is built on roughly 2 trillion parameters. What's interesting is that this follows Grok 4.5, which had 1.5 trillion parameters and was released recently. Grok 4.6 is a direct response to Moonshot AI’s Kimi K3, a 2.8-trillion-parameter model. Musk believes Grok 4.6 will match or exceed Kimi K3's capability through efficiency, rather than just raw size. The rapid release schedule is notable. Grok 4.5 launched on July 8th, and Grok 4.6's training was complete by July 20th. Another model, Grok 4.7, is reportedly only weeks behind. This fast pace puts pressure on other AI labs.
