Kimi K3 Halts Sign-ups: Moonshot AI Hits GPU Limits

Chinese AI startup Moonshot has halted new subscriptions to its Kimi K3 model. This comes just days after its launch, with overwhelming demand exceeding the company's GPU capacity. Moonshot states that demand for Kimi K3 has pushed its computing infrastructure to the limit. To protect existing users, new sign-ups are temporarily paused. Current subscribers will not be affected. The company also announced changes to its subscription model, splitting it into Kimi Membership and Kimi Code Membership. This aims to allocate computing resources more precisely. Moonshot unveiled Kimi K3 at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai. They plan to release the K3 model weights as open source on July 27th. Kimi K3 is described as Moonshot's most capable flagship model. It uses a 2.8-trillion-parameter architecture and features a one-million-token context window with multimodal capabilities. It is designed for complex tasks, programming, and AI agent applications. This news shows how quickly demand for advanced AI can outpace even robust computing resources.
