Motif Eliminated: Korea's AI Model Race Narrows to 3

The competition to develop Korea's sovereign AI model has narrowed to three teams. LG AI Research, SK Telecom, and Upstage have advanced to the next stage. Motif Technologies' AI model, Motif 3, did not move forward. The Ministry of Science and ICT and NIPA announced the results after the second-stage evaluation. Four models were evaluated: Motif 3, Solar Open 2, A.X K2, and K-EXAONE 2.0. These models have parameter counts ranging from 250 billion to 750 billion. The second evaluation stage was out of 100 points. This included 40 points for benchmarks, 35 for expert evaluation, and 25 for user evaluation. New to this stage was the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index benchmark and a greater focus on real-world deployment. Public users also directly tested the models. Motif 3 scored 47 on AAII, ranking 10th globally among top models. This narrowing down shows significant progress in Korea's push for its own advanced AI capabilities.
