Nvidia's Huang Defends Open AI Models on X

Jensen Huang, head of Nvidia, has joined X and used his first post to defend open-weight AI models. He shared a letter titled “Open Weights and American AI Leadership,” co-signed by 25 companies, including Microsoft, Meta, and IBM. The letter argues that open-weight models, which anyone can download and run, strengthen U.S. competitiveness. This stance highlights a commercial divide, as companies like OpenAI and Google, which focus on proprietary models, did not sign. The move comes after reports that the Trump administration is considering restricting Chinese open-weight models.
