OpenAI Codex Micro: $230 AI Agent Control Pad Launched

OpenAI has just launched its first branded hardware device, the Codex Micro. This $230 light-up keypad was built in collaboration with Work Louder. It lets users control coding agents via a sleek mechanical keyboard device. The Codex Micro is a limited-run Work Louder keyboard. It controls AI agents. This is not the smart speaker that was expected to open OpenAI's device line. The device includes "Agent Keys" that color-code each task live, flagging decisions, errors, status updates, and completed tasks. These keys are available in both ‘Clicky’ and ‘Silent’ versions. A joystick toggles jobs like code reviews or debugging, with a dial for tweaking reasoning levels and command keys for push-to-talk, accept, and reject. The $230 package includes a cable, warranty, and support, along with a 32-icon set. What's interesting is this is an early look at the type of hardware OpenAI is willing to put its name on, especially with a full device line reportedly on the way.
