OpenAI's 'friction@' Email: Direct Line to Sam Altman

OpenAI employees can apparently complain directly to CEO Sam Altman through a special email address. This inbox, called "friction@," allows employees to report company problems to leadership. What's interesting is that this system was formalized by Fidji Simo when she joined as CEO of Applications. She assigned a VP to monitor the inbox and ensure issues were resolved. While Simo has since left, these processes remain in place. One former employee said it's a good way for anyone to complain directly to Sam Altman. Examples include prioritizing parking spots and improving API credit processes. However, another former employee stated that issues are only resolved if Altman and President Greg Brockman deem them "worthy." This person believes the process can create inefficiency for already busy teams. The bottom line is that this system provides a direct channel for internal feedback, but its effectiveness depends on the prioritization of reported issues.
