SoftBank & Juntendo: Medical AI for Resident Education

SoftBank and Juntendo University have launched joint research on domestic medical AI. This project aims to streamline resident education. The collaboration involves SB Intuitions, a SoftBank Group company, and medical data platform provider HEMILLIONS. They are using "Med-Sarashina," a generative AI specialized for medical applications, developed in Japan. The goal is to improve the clinical reasoning of resident physicians. Juntendo University's clinical insights and case data will train the AI. SoftBank will support and evaluate the AI model for practical use. HEMILLIONS will provide a medical data platform that complies with Japan's medical regulations. Med-Sarashina is a domestic large language model that does not rely on foreign AI. This ensures it meets the high safety standards needed in clinical settings and adheres to Japanese medical regulations. This initiative could accelerate the use of generative AI in medicine.
