Zhipu AI has confirmed it owns the mysterious "Ox Alpha" model, which global developers consumed tens of trillions of tokens from in just six days. This model, also called "Niu Lai," was launched anonymously on August 20th. It appeared on the OpenRouter platform as a "stealth model" and was free to use for one week. Ox Alpha offers a massive 1.0486 million Token context window and supports various inputs like text, image, and video. Zhipu AI plans to release the model weights, but details about its official number or relationship to GLM-5.3 are not yet public. This rapid, widespread use of a new model highlights the intense demand for advanced AI tools.
