Anthropic Tops OpenAI: $65B Funding, $965B Valuation

Anthropic has become the most valuable artificial intelligence startup globally, following a new funding round. The company secured $65 billion, pushing its valuation to approximately $965 billion. This new figure means Anthropic now surpasses OpenAI in valuation. What's interesting is that this Series H financing round saw participation from a broad group of major investors. Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital led the round. The financing also includes $15 billion from hyperscale technology companies, with Amazon contributing $5 billion and Alphabet investing an additional $10 billion. Micron, Samsung, and SK hynix joined as strategic infrastructure partners. Anthropic's Chief Financial Officer, Krishna Rao, states this funding will help meet extraordinary demand and expand Claude's presence in the workplace. The company also unveiled its newest AI model, Claude Opus 4.8, on the same day. This development highlights the intensifying competition and investment in the artificial intelligence sector.
