Anthropic Tops OpenAI: Valued at $965B After Funding

Anthropic is now valued at $965 billion, making it the world’s most valuable artificial intelligence startup. This valuation follows a $65 billion Series H fundraise. What's interesting is this surpasses OpenAI's valuation, which reached $852 billion after a March funding round. Anthropic's new valuation more than doubles its previous $380 billion valuation from February. The company says this new funding will boost its safety research and increase computing power for its AI model, Claude. Meanwhile, OpenAI's ChatGPT has seen a dip in dominance. The ChatGPT app accounted for 47% of global AI app downloads in the second quarter of 2026, down from 67% last year. In contrast, Anthropic's Claude now makes up 14% of these downloads, a significant jump from 1% last year. The bottom line is the AI landscape is shifting rapidly, with new players challenging established leaders.
