Anthropic Valued at $96.5B, Overtakes OpenAI

Anthropic has raised new funding, valuing the company at $96.5 billion. This valuation now surpasses OpenAI's $85.2 billion. What's interesting is that Anthropic's annualized revenue has reached $4.7 billion. This is a significant jump from last year's $900 million, showing more than a fivefold increase. This growth is largely due to its enterprise AI coding service, Claude, which has quickly spread among corporate customers. The $6.5 billion funding round included investors like Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital. It also involved hyperscale cloud providers, including Amazon, contributing roughly $1.5 billion in previously committed investment. The bottom line is that Anthropic and OpenAI are now in close competition, possibly heading towards an initial public offering.
