Anthropic's $65B Funding: AI Chatbot Value Soars

Anthropic has announced a substantial $65 billion funding round, reaching a $965 billion valuation. This places the Claude chatbot company ahead of OpenAI in the artificial intelligence race. What's interesting is that this valuation more than doubles Anthropic's value since February. This news follows a legal win for Anthropic against major music publishers in a vicarious liability claim. However, a copyright infringement case from the labels and a separate action from BMG Rights Management are still ongoing. Anthropic stated that its run-rate revenue crossed $47 billion earlier this month. The funding round was led by several firms, including Altimeter Capital and Sequoia Capital, with strategic partners like Micron and Samsung also participating. This includes $15 billion from previously committed investments, such as $5 billion from Amazon. The company is also reportedly preparing for a public listing, as are other AI firms, to secure resources for their services and model training.
